Presents
International Women’s Day Event

Date: 9thMarch2012

Venue: Badruka College, Hyderabad.
Expected Crowd: 1500-2000 approx.
The event targets students from colleges in the twin cities. Some of the participating colleges and student organizations include St. Francis Degree College, Villa Marie College, ICFAI Business School, St. Joseph’s Degree & PG College, SreeNidhi Institute of Technology, AIESEC and several others.

Apart from students, several reputed companies like Vodafone, Radio Mirchi-98.3FM, RedBull, InternFever have agreed to participate in the event to support this cause of women’s empowerment.

Concept Note:
CARE India works for sensitizing today’s youth on burning issues of gender inequality, skewed sex ratio, hygiene, personal healthcare and women’s rights. In order to engage the youth and to mark the occasion of International’s Women’s Day that blends theatre and a series of fun & games with a social cause.
The event will be conducted on 9thMarch 2012. The event consists of activities for college students, presentation by the girls and key speeches by women leaders and entrepreneurs along with a lot of games and fun activities. The finale will be combine a one-day marathon of activities.

Main Theme: Women Empowerment (Any topic around this theme is considered for participation)
Myth's: Subsequently they can use any of the below mentioned Myth’s and breaks them via their street play.

5. “Women can’t lead.”

Time Agenda Item Description
12 00 - 12 30 PM Address by CARE India and Guest of Honor Commencement of the International Women’s Day event by an address by a representative from CARE India and a woman leader who will be invited as the guest of honor
12 30 PM - 3 00 PM Street Plays Competition Teams from across Hyderabad Colleges would participate by showcasing street plays around critical issues such as Women Empowerment
3 00 PM - 4 00 PM Western Music Society/ Indian Music Society Leading colleges of Hyderabad would be represented by their Western/Indian music societies who would open for the band performance, they would perform songs which are women centric for half an hour each
4 00 PM - 5 00 PM Valedictory The prizes for the street play competition will be awarded
5 PM - 6 30 PM Band Performance A leading band with high youth appeal would perform to engage the audience
6 30 PM Release of Sky Lanterns Sky Lanterns will be released as a symbolic closing for the event

Extras Details
Udaan paintings on display Udaan is an initiative by CARE India, where girls from rural areas are given 6 years of basic education in 11 months. The students from the Udaan schools would showcase paintings made by them at the event

Pledge Wall A wall where pledges collected from workshops held at schools & colleges across Delhi & Hyderabad would be showcased on a large setup. The attendees of the event could also share their pledges here.
"Raise Your Hands" Wall - canvas/cloth for handprints Attendees of the event could put their hand prints on a large canvas, to show their support for the cause
Minute to win it 1 minute games to engage the crowd and to increase the interaction
Myth Corner (with quizzes, games, and more info) Aims to bust various myths that exist around women through this event, a space would be dedicated wherein information around these and engagement would take place
